Fighting For Those Who Serve

Notre Dame Engineering Research Works to Improve Blast Resistance on Army Combat Vehicles

Managing chaos. It’s what the men and women in our armed forces have been trained to do every day as they work in combat zones. Sometimes, despite the best preparation, the only thing they can rely on for protection is their vehicle.

In collaboration with the United States Army, Notre Dame EngineeringProfessor John Renaud (1961-2011) worked to address one of the most threatening causes of injury and harm in the field today - improvised explosive devices.

His team’s work still focuses on ways to improve the blast resistance on combat vehicles, helping protect those who protect our country.
